Nebraska's Amelia Riggott raced to a lifetime best on her way to a fifth-place finish in the 50-meter breaststroke at the 2025 British National Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Center in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Tuesday, April 15.
Riggott, a Husker sophomore from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom, posted a time of 31.55 in the final after establishing her previous lifetime best with a 31.61 in prelims earlier Tuesday. Riggott is scheduled to be back in action for the 100 breaststroke on Sunday, April 20.
In addition to Riggott's impressive performance, former Husker Shannon Stott fought to an eighth-place finish in the 200 butterfly. The 2023 Nebraska graduate posted a time of 2:13.29 in the final after racing to a 2:12.47 in prelims, which was .31 faster than her school record long-course time in the 200 fly. She also owns the Husker short-course record in the 200 butterfly (1:57.29).
Maisie Gilford also hit the water for the first time at British Nationals on Tuesday with a time of 2:06.24 in the prelims of the 200 freestyle. The junior from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England will be back in action to compete in the 50 free on Thursday, before the 50 fly on Friday and the 100 free on Sunday.
Senior Maia Hall (Whitby, England) also will represent the Huskers in the 200 breaststroke on Thursday.
