The Nebraska track and field program opened the first week of the USTFCCCA rankings inside the top 25 for the men and the women, as both squads came in at No. 12.
This season, NU has posted 12 marks inside the top-20 nationally, while adding 10 Nebraska all-time marks. Additionally, the women’s ranking is the best week one indoor ranking since 2010, where they were also 12th.
On the men’s side, Tyus Wilson is first in the country in the high jump, clearing 2.24m (7-4 ¼) at the Graduate Classic, while Reid Nelson (2.18m, 7-1 ¾) and Mason Kooi (2.17m, 7-1 ½) currently hold the ninth and 12th top marks respectively. Maxwell Otterdahl has the third best shot put in the country this season, throwing 19.68m (64-7) at the Mark Colligan Memorial.
For the women, Jenna Rogers broke the facility and school record last weekend, clearing 1.94m (6-4 ¼) for the top high jump mark in the country. Axelina Johansson is also at the top of the list in her event, throwing 18.59m (61-0) at the Mark Colligan Memorial.
The indoor season continues this week as the Huskers travel to Columbia, Mo., for the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational, Jan. 31-Feb. 1. Events start at 10 a.m. (CT) on Friday and 11 a.m. (CT) on Saturday.
