On Friday, May 10, Nebraska Baseball will host the Indiana Hoosiers and raise awareness for ALS. They will welcome ALS in the Heartland to Haymarket Park to bring awareness to Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Additionally, the Huskers will honor the life and legacy of Scott Johnston. Johnston was a 2008 Nebraska graduate and previously worked in the Nebraska Football recruiting office. His brother, Dan, played baseball for Nebraska from 2008-2009.
Assistant coach Rob Childress had a close relationship with Scott and his family, who was diagnosed with ALS in September 2021 and passed away in August 2023 at the age of 37.
“Scotty Johnston led a life of impact as a husband, a father, a friend, and a Husker. He was taken from us all way too early by ALS. His wife Ashley, daughter Macy son Jett, and the rest of Scotty’s family continue to glorify his life the way he did. Living life to the fullest and treating everyone as a friend. “
