Hannah Kono continued her strong start to the season for the Nebraska women's golf team with an even-par 72 in the second round of the Badger Invitational in Verona, Wis., on Monday.
Kono, a sophomore from Enkoping, Sweden moved up to a tie for 15th on the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 148 (+4), after opening the three-day event with a 76 (+4) on Sunday on the 6,306-yard layout of the University Ridge Golf Course.
As a team, Nebraska put up a 302 (+14) team score in the five-count-four scoring format in the second round, marking an 11-stroke improvement over Sunday's first round for the Huskers. NU remained in 11th place among 13 teams in the team standings.
Senior Andrea Velez sits second among the Huskers in a tie for 42nd overall with a 36-hole total of 154 (+10). She produced Nebraska's second-best individual score with a 76 (+4) on Monday.
Senior Miu Takahashi and sophomore Arden Louchheim each added rounds of 77 (+5) on Tuesday and sit in a tie for 51st overall in the 75-player field at 157 (+13), joining teammate Symran Shah, who is competing as an individual outside the Husker lineup. Shah carded a second-round 75 (+3).
Redshirt sophomore Lauren Thiele completed the NU contingent with a second-round 78 (+6). She enters Tuesday's final round in a tie for 57th at 158 (+14).
Sam Houston State's Grace Jin owns the top spot on the leaderboard with a 36-hole total of 140 (-4), while Delaware's Grace Dunagan and Lilia Henkel are tied for second at 143 (-1) as the only other golfers in the tournament who enter the final 18 holes better than par.
The Blue Hens combined for a second-round 282 (-6) to take over the lead in the team standings. Delaware (579, +3) owns a 12-shot advantage over second-place UTSA at 591 (+15). Sam Houston State enters the final round in third at 593 (+17), while Yale and South Dakota State are tied for fourth at 597 (+21).
The Badger Invitational concludes on Tuesday with a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m. (CT).
