Three Nebraska softball players earned all-region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Saturday. Shortstop Billie Andrews was named to the All-Midwest first team, third baseman Sydney Gray was a second-team selection and catcher Ava Bredwell earned a spot on the third team.
Andrews was recognized as an all-region performer for the third straight season and was a first-team honoree for the second year in a row. Andrews is the 13th player in school history to be a three-time all-region selection. She also ended her career as the eighth Husker to be a four-time all-conference honoree.
Andrews hit .383 as a senior in 2024 with 10 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs and 45 RBIs. She led Nebraska in average, hits (67), extra-base hits (30), home runs, RBIs, runs (55), slugging percentage (.771) and on-base percentage (.460). Andrews’ senior season left a mark on the Nebraska season record book as she ranked third in slugging percentage, fourth in home runs, fifth in extra-base hits and seventh in runs scored. Nationally, Andrews ranked 11th in home runs per game, 15th in total bases and16th in runs per game.
Gray was selected to an all-region team for the second time in her career. She hit .286 on the season with 11 doubles, 12 home runs and 41 RBIs. Gray was second on the team in hits (48), home runs and RBIs. She was also a second-team All-Big Ten selection and a three-time Big Ten Player of the Week in 2024, tying the conference record for most player-of-the-week awards in a single season.
Bredwell was named to the All-Midwest Region third team, the first all-region accolade of her career and the first Nebraska catcher to make an all-region team since 2019. Bredwell had a breakout season at the plate, batting .329 with 14 doubles, eight home runs and 29 RBIs. She led the Huskers in doubles, triples (3), walks (22) and hit-by-pitches (10) and was second in hits (48), extra-base hits (25), slugging percentage (.630) and on-base percentage (.447).
