Nebraska's Kelli Ann Strand captured second-team All-Big Ten honors for the second straight season, when the conference announced its annual women's golf awards on Tuesday, April 30.
Strand, a sophomore from Challis, Idaho, carries a school-record 71.17 stroke average through 29 rounds this season and is ranked among the top 100 golfers nationally heading into next week's NCAA Cle Elum Regional in Washington (May 6-8). She has produced eight top-25 individual finishes on the season, including four top-10 showings.
She also earned second-team All-Big Ten honors as a true freshman in 2023 while posting a then-school-record 72.05 stroke average in helping the Huskers qualify for the NCAA Raleigh Regional. She tied for 30th individually in Raleigh after tying for 20th at the 2023 Big Ten Championship.
In addition to Strand's All-Big Ten honors, Nebraska senior Michaela Vavrova earned a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award. A four-year starter for the Huskers from Bojnice, Slovakia, Vavrova led Nebraska with her tie for 28th at the 2024 Big Ten Championship in Havre de Grace, Md. She finished the season with a career-best 74.48 stroke average over 29 rounds. The two-time Slovakian National Player of the Year is a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team and a 2023 Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award recipient.
