Nebraska women's basketball signee Britt Prince was named one of the top 25 players in the nation when she was included on the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Girl's High School Midseason Team, announced on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
Prince, a 5-11 senior point guard at Elkhorn North High School, was the Gatorade and Max Preps Nebraska Player of the Year in 2023 after averaging 24.2 points, 8.6 rebounds and 6.2 assists. She hit 59 percent of her shots from the floor, including 46 percent of her three-pointers and 92 percent of her free throws.
Prince, who has led Elkhorn North to three consecutive Class B state championships, was a 2023 adidas All-American. She is a three-time Nebraska Super-State selection.
On Jan. 6, Prince tied her own Elkhorn North school record with 42 points as the Class B No. 1 Wolves defeated No. 2 Omaha Skutt, 71-53. In the game, she also passed former Husker All-American Jordan Hooper (Alliance) as the Nebraska Class B all-time scoring leader. Hooper (2007-10) finished her high school career with 2,078 points, while Prince ended the game with 2,088. The next day, Nebraska retired the No. 35 jersey of Hooper, who scored 2,357 points and grabbed 1,110 rebounds in her four-year Husker career (2011-14).
Nebraska is one of just 12 schools nationally with a player signed/committed on the Naismith Trophy Girl's High School Player of the Year Midseason Team, joining South Carolina, UConn, UCLA, USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, Texas, Notre Dame, NC State and Duke.
