Adrover Gallego, Lacasse Advance to ITA Regional Quarters

Lawrence, Kan. - The Nebraska women’s tennis team completed its third day of competition at the ITA Regionals, as duo Isabel Adrover Gallego and Raphaëlle Lacasse won and will compete in Sunday’s doubles quarterfinals. 

The Huskers began the third day at the ITA Regionals with doubles. Adrover Gallego and Raphaëlle Lacasse defeated Oklahoma’s Florencia Urrutia and Ava Catanzarite 8-3 and will face Arkansas’ Morgan Cross and Indianna Spink on Sunday, Oct.15, at 9 a.m. (CT). Pairs Jillian Roa and Maria Taranova (5-8), Lucy Loy and Maja Pietrowicz (3-8), Anfisa Danilchenko and Ana Zamburek (7-8 (1)) battled, but lost their matches. 

For singles, Maria Taranova fell to Oklahoma State’s Kristina Novak 6-4, 2-6, 6-7 (4), and Adrover Gallego lost to Oklahoma State’s Raquel Gonzalez 6-2, 3-6, 1-6. In the consolation draw, Roa won in the Round of 16, but lost in the consolation quarterfinals 6-4, 6-3.
