Nebraska basketball was well represented in the 2023 NBA Las Vegas Summer League with five former players in action over the last 10 days.

Nebraska basketball was well represented in the 2023 NBA Las Vegas Summer League with five former players in action over the last 10 days.  

The group was led by Dalano Banton, who recently signed a two-year contract with the Boston Celtics after spending the last two seasons with Toronto. He missed the Celtics’ first two games with an injury, but averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in two games in Las Vegas. He was joined by Sam Griesel on the Celtics’ Summer League roster. Griesel, who finished his Husker career last spring, played in four contests, averaging 3.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists and 0.8 steals per game for the Celtics. He had eight points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals in Boston’s win over Orlando.

 

Isaiah Roby made his debut for the New York Knicks after being signed on the final day of the 2022-23 regular season. Roby, who had been recovering from an ankle injury, played in four games for the Knicks, averaging 10.5 points on 50 percent shooting and 3.8 rebounds per game.

 

Bryce McGowens played for Charlotte in both the California Classic and the Las Vegas Summer League, playing six of a possible seven games. McGowens averaged 13.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in four contests in Las Vegas. McGowens, a second-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, appeared in 46 games for the Hornets last season.

 

Trey McGowens saw limited duty for the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 1.5 points per game on 50 percent shooting, 0.5 rebounds and 0.5 steals per game in two contests.  McGowens spent part of last season with the Long Island Nets in the NBA G League last season.
