Five Huskers Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

Four Nebraska swimmers and one Husker diver claimed CSCAA Scholar All-America honors when the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America announced its individual academic award winners on July 7.

Record-setting freshman Gena Jorgenson (Aberdeen, S.D.) captured first-team CSCAA Scholar All-America accolades after qualifying for the 2023 NCAA Championships. Fellow freshman and NCAA qualifying diver Kelsey Clairmont (Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada) added first-team CSCAA Scholar All-America honors of her own.

Jorgenson, who set the Nebraska school record in the 1,650 freestyle, earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2022-23, including a perfect 4.0 GPA in the spring. Jorgenson, who also set the Devaney Center Natatorium record in the 1,000 free, finished sixth in the 1,650 free at the Big Ten Championships.

Clairmont competed on platform for the Big Red at the 2023 NCAA Championships. The 16-time Canadian Junior National finalist took 34th on platform in her first NCAA appearance on platform in 2023 after a top-eight finish at the NCAA Zone meet. She also earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters of 2022-23.

Jorgenson and Clairmont were joined by second-team CSCAA Scholar All-America teammates Sarah Barton, Berkeley Livingston and JoJo Randby.

A sophomore from Omaha, Randby took seventh in the 100 breaststroke at the Big Ten Championships in a school-record 1:00.07. A 2023 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten choice, Randby was also a second-team CSCAA Scholar All-American as a freshman in 2022.

Livingston, a senior from Lincoln, was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten choice who was also a 2023 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. She was also a top-16 finisher in the 400 IM at the 2023 Big Ten Championships.

Barton (Huntersville, N.C.) joined Livingston as a top-16 finisher in the 400 IM at the Big Ten Championships. The junior added top-25 finishes in both the 200 butterfly and the 200 IM.

Overall, the CSCAA recognized 1,270 women's swimmers and divers across all levels of collegiate competition. To be named a first-team Scholar All-American student-athletes must achieve a minimum 3.50 GPA and participate in their respective national championship. Second-team selections also must maintain a 3.5 GPA and meet the "B" time standard for their national championship or compete in a zone diving qualifier.
