Trio of Huskers Climb All-Time List at Texas Relays

The Nebraska track and field team continued its weekend at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational with nine top-five finishes and three athletes posting all-time marks on Friday.

Darius Luff posted a wind-aided personal-best time of 13.44 in the 110m hurdles prelim to earn a spot in tomorrow's final. That time ranks third in school history. Johanna Ilves clocked a personal-best 13.72 in the 100m hurdles, finishing third in her section.

Newcomer Arthur Petersen had the fourth-best javelin mark in school history, placing ninth with a 239-11 (73.13m).

Kalynn Meyer added a personal-best shot put effort to the day. With a distance of 53-6 1/2 (16.32m), Meyer finished as runner-up in the B section and climbed to ninth on the all-time list.

Maddie Harris was NU's top finisher in the women's javelin with a mark of 170-2 (51.87m) to place seventh. Mirta Kulisic pitched in a top-ten mark with a 166-4 (50.70m). Maxwell Otterdahl represented the Big Red in the throws on the men's side, finishing 11th in the shot put with a mark of 182-8 (55.68m).

Riley Masten and Madison Yerigan tied for fifth in the B section of the high jump with a clearance of 5-7 (1.70m).

Ieva Turke highlighted the horizontal jumps with a personal-best 43-4 1/4 (13.21m) in the triple jump to place third in the B section. Rhianna Phipps added a ninth-place finish with a 42-1 1/2 (12.84m). In the B section of the men's long jump, Micaylon Moore took seventh with a leap of 24-8 1/4 (7.52m).

The Husker men (Kavian Kerr, Jacob Hyde, Garrett Kaalund, Luff) placed 19th in the 4x100m relay prelim with a time of 40.09. In the 4x400, Cory Berg, Nick Bryant, Hyde and Kaalund crossed the line at 3:09.26 to earn another 19th-place finish.

At the Bobcat Invitational, Zionn Pearson leaped a personal-best 20-7 3/4 (6.29m) to claim runner-up honors in the long jump. Ashriel Dixon, Michael Hoffer and Tyus Wilson tied for third in the high jump with a clearance of 6-9 1/2 (2.07m).

Cory Berg finished sixth in the men's 400m hurdles with a 53.05, while Karlie Moore clocked a 1:02.33 in the women's 400m hurdles to take ninth.

In the 800m, Sam Easley ran a personal-best 1:50.63 to claim fifth and Cortez Ruiz took ninth with a 1:51.41.

Nebraska returns to action tomorrow morning for the final day of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invitational. Events are set to begin at 10 a.m. (CT) at both meets.
