Five Huskers Take on CSCAA Championship

Five Nebraska swimmers are set to compete at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship hosted in Elkhart, Ind., March 9-11.

JoJo Randby and Sarah Barton automatically qualified with NCAA B Standard Cuts posted in individual events.

In the 100 breaststroke, Randby has hit the B Cut on six occasions, including a school-record performance at the Big Ten Championships to finish seventh with a 1:00.07. The record Randby broke was set 27 years ago by Olympian Penny Heyns. The sophomore from Omaha added a B Cut in the 200 breaststroke during the B Final at Big Tens with a 2:13.25, finishing 12th.

Barton has seen significant time drops in all of her events this season, with career-bests in five different races. The junior from Huntersville, N.C., tabbed her first NCAA B Cut at the Big Ten Championships, clocking a 4:15.60 in the 400 IM to take 13th. Barton added C Final appearances in the 200 butterfly and the 200 IM at the conference meet.

Gabby Donahue, Caitlin Cairns and Giulia Marchi qualified by meeting a relay time standard and will get the opportunity to swim individual events as well.

Donahue clocked career-best times in all three of her individual events at conference. She swam a 2:01.47 in the 200 IM to qualify for the C Final and added times of 51.29 in the 100 freestyle and 54.49 in the 100 backstroke.

Cairns earned a spot in the 100 butterfly C Final at conference with a 54.61 and went on to finish 23rd.

Marchi has pitched in solid times in the freestyle events and was a member of the 400 freestyle relay and the 800 freestyle relay at Big Tens.

Prelims begin each day at 8:30 a.m. (CT), with finals starting at 5 p.m. (CT).
