The Nebraska Life Skills team continued to add value to their programming this fall by offering optional financial seminars held each month within Memorial Stadium. These seminars, which were in addition to the required Financial Forum attended by all 3rd-year student-athletes in October, were made possible through a partnership with the Nebraska Council on Economic Education who attended and led each of the three sessions held in the fall semester.
Student-athletes of all ages from all Nebraska teams were invited to attended a monthly, one hour session dedicated to different financial topics meant to help them navigate their personal finances as a student-athlete and their financial journey when they make the transition into a profession outside of their sport. These meetings were very hands-on, interactive, and allowed student-athletes to take a deeper look into their personal habits with money. In total, 79 student-athletes attended the three sessions.
Topics for the fall semester included:
September: Building a Credit History, Credit Scores, & Credit Reports
October: Credit Cards & Loans
November: Investing for Any Age or Income
The Life Skills team and the Nebraska Council on Economic Education will continue their partnership in the Spring semester, delivering three more presentations to educate student-athletes on different financial topics and enhance their financial well-being.
