On how he played on Saturday
"With the game and how it went at the end of the day we did not get the job done enough to win the game so it is a tough loss for sure. At the end of the day the stats do not matter at all. I play for the team and what this program represents. I do not look at it at all so it is kind of unfortunate for us."
On getting comfortable in his role this season
"I won't say a specific moment. I would say just with the development of things and just how the more time you experience on the field and play in different situations I feel more comfortable in those moments and I will be able to play in the game."
On the Iowa game
"We just know what type of game it is going to be. A really physical fought game. We know it is going to be a game that is won at the line of scrimmage so just emphasizing just making sure we are precise and we know what we have to do for each play."
On Barrett Ruud
He has played a tremendous role with my technique and how to prepare the right way. I know I have tremendous guys in the linebacker room that have helped me with that as well. I obviously have learned that from Coach Ruud as well coming into this program so they have helped me implement his style into my game as well. I want to be coached hard and that is the style I want to be able to have him coach all those little details to make sure by the time the game comes you have seen everything and be able to play football."
On the details that Coach Ruud focuses on
"Absolutely we are a details group. We pride ourselves on making sure everything is precise and that is kind of how we grade ourselves each week and we just want to make sure we do what we can for the team."
On Malcolm Hartzog
"Malcolm is a tremendous guy. He is a great person as well behind his great football ability. Just to see in his eyes when he is on the field that he is not going to back down to nobody is what I love seeing. I look to the left of him and I see him get right up to a man and pressing him and it kind of just shows who he is and that he is not going to back down to anybody in a fight."
