On how good Minnesota’s Mohamed Ibrahim is

“He is one of the frontrunners for the best running back in the Big Ten. He’s a short bowling ball guy that runs dudes over and runs behind his pads and gets low. He is definitely a frontrunner. These last four or five weeks we are going to see the best backs in the Big Ten and the country.”

On what he tells the guys about how rough this month can be
“It’s a Big Ten November. These guys already know. We have already been in some very physical games, and we are very physical in our own team. The guys understand and they know the opponents we’re are playing. Like you said, just reiterating that. We don’t have to tell them anything new.”

On the challenge of stopping the Minnesota offense
“We just got to get them behind the sticks. Same thing with Illinois. They live in those third and threes, three and twos and third and fours. Getting those guys behind the sticks and having no gains or negative gain in the first and second downs and messing up their scheme and tempo on offense. That’s our job up front to stop a really good running back. Get him behind the sticks and get him to throw the ball.”

On how big of a deal this game is
“They are the next stop sign. We know our job and what we need to do. It’s going to be sick to go beat them. Like I said, just control the things we can control.”

On the current quarterback situation
“Those guys being my teammates I know how hard the quarterback room works and how good of guys and players they are. I’m not worried about that. The coaches will put us in the best situation. Whoever is out there has my whole faith and trust to go get it done and run the offense.”
