On how they’ve handled the challenge of a tough runner
“I think last week we did a decent job handling Chase Brown. A lot of that comes down to defeating our blocks up front and standing in our gaps. It’s going to be a big challenge this week. This guy is really good too. Came back off an Achilles injury last year and still almost has 1,000 yards already. It will be a big challenge especially up front. We’re ready for it.”
On Minnesota’s offensive line
“I think it’s a big thing to them. I think they’re up there with Wisconsin and Iowa wanting to establish a run game. Obviously bigger bodies and bigger offensive linemen. They are going to try and run the ball, so we are going to have to stop the run and make them throw the ball.”
On what the year has been like for him
“Obviously this is my first season with a starting job and playing an extended amount of snaps. The recovery part is huge. Big Ten play now you’re going to get a little beat up. We always talk about investing our time recovering instead of spending it. Just kind of having that mindset with trying to get yourself ready for the next game.”
On how their third-down defense has been
“We did decent last week against Chase Brown. I think there is definitely some plays we wished we had back. Obviously, we have another challenge this week. We have the 24-hour rule. We watch the film and put it behind us and get ready for Minnesota. It will be another challenge. They are good too.”
