On the game against Illinois
"We just have to execute. It is frustrating. Looking back at it, we had a great game plan. Coach put us in great positions. Had a great week of practice. Probably our best week of practice. Had a little off day on Thursday, but it wasn't anything major. We just have to execute."

On playing against physical Big Ten teams 
"It's fun. Illinois was a good defense. Coach Beckton does a great job, we are prepared for it. So when we play against big defenses we are prepared, and honestly in just our room specifically, our grades have been the highest against big defenses and big opponents. But it is our job as leaders and older guys, especially me and Travis (Vokolek) to bring along other guys with us." 

On how the tight end group prepares for Big Ten competition 
"Just preparation during the week. Extra film watch. Knowing the assignment first of all. And then going and executing. That is one thing Mickey has said we have to do. And I know Coach (Mickey) is going to say it is on him and that is one thing he has been saying, but as players and as leaders that is on us. We have a great game plan each week. Every game we have lost this year, we have had a great game plan going into it. We just have to execute. That starts with me, myself. I think if I do that play a little bit better, we probably hit that play. Just doing your 1/11th and that is how important every play is."

On Coach Joseph taking accountability 
"If anything it is frustrating. We know his intentions. But at the end of the day, we are a player led team and we have enough accountability on the team to first, we are out there playing, and then we you look back and watch the film, it is not on him. He has put us in great positions. That just goes to speak to who he is as a person and what type of character he has. But, at the end of the day, it is on us as players."

On backup quarterbacks playing 
"For my position specifically, it does not really change our job. It is more so if anything you have to be more vocal if younger guys are getting more reps. As of right now, we just have to focus on game plan and make sure we execute during this week."
