Lincoln – The Nebraska bowling team will open the 2022-23 season in third place, as the National Ten Pin Coaches Association (NTCA) released its preseason poll on Wednesday.
The Huskers received six of the 36 first-place votes and totaled 1,193 points, behind No. 1 McKendree (1,312 points, 23 first-place votes) and No. 2 Vanderbilt (1.212 points, five first-place votes). In all, five programs received at least one first-place vote by the coaches around the nation.
The Huskers return five bowlers from last season's team which won five regular-season events, including All-Americans Crystal Elliott, Kendyl Hofmeister and Kayla Verstraete.
The Huskers open the 2022-23 season next weekend, as they travel to the MOTIV Penguin Classic in Youngstown, Ohio, from Oct. 14-16.
