Marshall Finishes Top-25 to Pace Huskers in New Mexico

Will Marshall fired a three-round score of 73-70-75=218 (+2) to notch his third career Top-25 finish (T-23rd) and his second in two efforts this year as Nebraska placed 10th at the William H. Tucker Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Nebraska as a team had a three-round score of 294-297-290=881 (+17). The Huskers had their best round of the weekend Saturday, led by first-year players Quinn Yost and Harry Crockett. Both players continue to make an early impact in their first season on Nebraska. Yost shot a 70 (-2) on Saturday to finish with a three-round score of 74-78-70=222 (+6) to place T-45th, and Crockett shot a 71 (-1) on Saturday to finish strong and also place 45th with a three-round score of 75-76-71=222. 

Nebraska placed ahead of multiple teams who qualified for NCAA Regionals in 2021-22, including San Francisco (+18), and San Diego (+23). San Diego State ran away with the overall title in Albuquerque, shooting a stellar 279-280-289=848 (-16) and finishing eight strokes ahead of second place and hosts New Mexico, who shot 290-274-292=856 (-8).

Jeremy Sisson, the senior from Skaneateles, N.Y., was looking to build off his third career top-25 at the Badger Invite. Sisson put up a solid effort this weekend, shooting 74-74-74=222 (+6) to place T-45th along with Crockett and Yost. 

Nebraska's lineup was rounded out by Gentry Scheve, who was making his first lineup appearance as a Husker this season. The junior from Emporia, Kan. placed T-91st after posting a 73-77-81=231 (+15). 

Nebraska men's golf will return to action at the Purdue Fall Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind. October 10-11.
