On what’s not clicking for the team
“I wouldn’t say anything isn’t clicking, it’s just we've got to do our jobs. There was a couple plays that I should have made that I didn’t. We have to do our jobs. It’s a next play mentality.”
On what this week was like for him
“As you all know this week was pretty tough. We had a good week of practice. We've just got to get on the field and perform on the weekend. We had a great week at practice.”
On how they felt at the beginning of today’s game
“It felt like it was going our way. It felt like it was going our way at halftime. We've just got to keep playing. You all are going to ask me all these questions that I don’t want to answer. At the end of the day, you all aren’t in the locker room and practice with us. We've just got to keep playing football.”
On what he’d like to see fixed with the run defense
“We have to make the tackle. We've just got to make the tackle. I’m not going to tell you all what we have to do in-house for rea,l but at the end of the day we have to tackle.”
On if tackling got better this week
“Yeah we did. We had more one-on-one periods and more live periods. It’s not going to happen overnight. We have been tackling for four years.”
On his message to everyone outside of the team
“There is no message. You all aren’t in here with us. What do you all want to know for? You’ll see what happens on Saturday. We've just got to come to work.”
On what Coach Joseph brings to the table
“Energy. He is very enthusiastic. He keeps it upbeat. If you’re down, he is going to say something in your ear and it’s going to be like it never happened. Whatever you did wrong will be like it never happened. There is never a down moment with Coach Joseph. That’s what I love about him.”
On his reaction to Coach Joseph saying the loss was on him
“That is what he is supposed to say. As a team we all know it isn’t on him. He isn’t on the field. It wasn’t on him. That’s the message he wanted to give, but as a team we know it’s on us.”
On what they do to get better during the off-week
“Practice. Go out and practice fundamentals and we are going to start from Ground Zero.”
On how he keeps his guys positive
“At the end of the day, if you are down at this point you aren’t meant to play football. Football is football. You win some and you lose some. You have to keep playing and keep your head up. That’s what we showed today. Keep our head up and keep playing.”
On if not playing full-speed at practice affects their game-day performance
“That’s with every defense. The scouts can’t get the same looks that the real offense they are playing is going to get. That is why they are scouts. It’s up to you to play full speed and they are going to play full speed in the game. That’s football. Everybody runs different and moves different. You might have a dude that’s elusive and you might have a dude that will run through your mouth. You’ve got to make the tackle. That’s called playing defense.”
