Kyle Vantrease Postgame Quotes (GSU) - 9-10-22

On last touchdown:
“We had this play all week long and we were talking about when we were going to call it. It was a designed quarterback run and we needed it and called it and we executed it unto perfection so could not be more proud of the guys out front and the guys out wide. They did a great job tonight. Coach Ellis called a great game. It was just a lot of fun being out there.”

On Vantrease’s performance:
“I felt great. I always have trust to my guys out wide so I am going to give them the chance the benefit of the doubt. 50/50 balls are ours most of the time and that is our mindset. The offensive line did a great job protecting me tonight. They have a great defense line for sure. Great pass rush so they held their own really well today. They showed the rest of this nation what they are about and I am super proud. The running backs absolutely balled out. Those are some special players.”

On matchup with Nebraska:
“Every week you are going to have certain schemes that you want to get into. As the game comes you have to adjust and we practiced a whole bunch of different looks going against our defense. Every team does the same thing schematically. Football is all the same so for us it is just diagnosing that on the fly and getting the best position and the best play possible and then giving the playmakers a chance to make a play.”

On this year’s trip versus last year’s:
“Absolutely and it feels unbelievable after a win like that. To do it with this brotherhood that I am a part of is super special for me and I just could not be more proud of this team.”

On the shootout style of the game:
“It is two very equal teams in terms of skill and talent and coaching. Great coaches all over the field. When that happens it is going to be a dog fight. There is going to be ups and downs. There is going to be bad plays. There is going to be great plays both ways, but the most important play is always the next play. Get to that play and that is all that matters.”

On third- and fourth-down efficiency:
“You win the game on third- and fourth-downs. You win the game in the red-zone and we executed really well on those tonight. Again that comes down to the five guys on the front and I could not be more proud of those guys.”
