Postgame Quotes

On his initial thoughts

“What a great college football game and what a special venue to play at. It’s one of those places you always hope you get to compete in. What a special night. So proud of our kids. Especially coming off a season where you just win three games and you got a new collection of people. I have always thought great teams support each other. Last week our offense was supported a lot by our defense and then this week our offense supported our defense early and got us to a fourth quarter game.”

On the offense overall
“I thought offensively our staff put a really good game plan together.  We walked in and said we weren’t going to hold anything back and we weren’t going to play scared. We were going to play our style of football no matter the situation. Sometimes it was really good and sometimes it cost us. I thought Kyle played an exceptional game and our young kids played really exceptionally.”

On the style of game
“That’s a good football team and offensive skill-wise they are a nightmare. Anthony Grant is one of the top running backs in the country and I’m a big fan of Trey Palmer and what he can do. You look at their skill kids and we knew it might be a shootout. We knew we were going to have to support each other.”

On the final drive
“We ended up with having about three minutes left and knew we had plenty of time. We picked up that big fourth down and then we got going. The play down on the goal line is a play we have in our arsenal and it was the right time at the right place. Thank goodness for Kyle. He had to break one tackle and he found a way to get that ball in. Pretty special play and pretty special moment for our team.”
