Talley Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

Nebraska track and field graduate student-athlete Alex Talley was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 First Team on Thursday. Talley will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on June 22. 

A graduate transfer from North Dakota State, Talley carries a 3.83 GPA as a graduate student majoring in engineering management. Talley earned a 3.47 GPA with a degree in civil engineering from NDSU. It's the first Academic All-District honor for Talley, who is also a three-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree. 

Talley was the Big Ten indoor weight throw champion and the shot put runner-up. For his efforts, he was named the Big Ten Men's Field Athlete of the Championships. A five-time All-American, Talley qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday in the hammer throw. He is a two-time USTFCCCA Region Field Athlete of the Year and owns school records in both the weight throw and hammer throw.
