Lincoln, Neb - Two members of the Nebraska bowling team were selected to the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Central Region Team announced Wednesday. Sophomore Kayla Verstraete was a second-team honoree, while junior Kendyl Hofmeister earned honorable-mention honors.
Verstraete, who earned all-region honors for the second straight season, averaged a 212.4 in eight regular-season tournaments for the Huskers. Her season was highlighted by a second-place finish at the Columbia 300 Saints Invite with an average of 216.4, which was one of four top-10 finishes in 2021-22. She placed in the top 20 in eight of nine regular-season events for the Big Red this season.
Hofmeister earned honorable mention accolades for the first time in her career, as she averaged 207.8 in seven regular-season outings this season. She had three top-10 finishes this season, with her best finish being a sixth-place showing at the Bearcat Hammer Open. Hofmeister placed in the top 25 in all seven tournaments she competed in this season.
Both honorees will be considered for All-America honors when teams are released later this week.
