The Nebraska men's golf team travels to Wilmington, N.C., for the Seahawk Intercollegiate, March 27-28.
The University of North Carolina Wilmington hosts the two-day, 54-hole event on the Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall. The 14-team field will face a par-72, 6,960-yard layout with the first 36 holes set for Sunday with a 7:30 a.m. (CT) shotgun start. The tournament concludes Monday with the final round beginning at 7:30 a.m. (CT) with another shotgun start.
Nebraska joins No. 15 Kansas as the only teams from Midwest at the Seahawk Intercollegiate, while the rest of the field features a strong East Coast presence, including VCU, Appalachian State, Davidson, Richmond, Wright State, Francis Marion, LIU, USC Upstate, Radford, James Madison, Delaware and the hosts from UNCW.
Nebraska's five-player lineup will be led by senior Tom Westenberger (Wuppertal, Germany), who produced NU's top finish at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate earlier this month with a tie for 15th. Seniors Branden Meyer (Gilbert, Ariz.) and Mark Foelbaek (Jelling, Denmark) will play out of the No. 2 and 3 positions. The duo tied for 20th at Desert Mountain. Senior Caleb Badura (Aurora, Neb.) and junior Will Marshall (Elburn, Ill.) round out Nebraska's lineup.
Nebraska is coming off a fourth-place finish in a strong 15-team field at the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate, where they closed at 879 just two strokes out of a share of the team title with Michigan, Little Rock and UAB in Arizona. Four Huskers golfers finished in the top 25 at Desert Mountain.
