Talley Places Seventh at NCAA Indoor Championships

Three Nebraska track and field athletes took center stage at the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Friday.

Alex Talley became a first-team All-American for the second consecutive season in the weight throw after placing seventh with a launch of 72-9 1/4 (22.18m). Talley placed sixth in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships last season.

Darius Luff had the fifth-fastest time in the prelims of the 60m hurdles, tying his personal-best time of 7.67 set earlier this season at the Tyson Invitational. The 7.67 is currently tied for third all-time in program history.

Darby Thomas finished 12th in the long jump with a leap of 20-6 1/4 (6.25m) to become an All-American for the first time in her career, earning second-team All-America recognition.

The Huskers resume the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday. At 12:30 p.m., Mayson Conner will compete in the men's high jump and Jenna Rogers will take part in the women's high jump. At 4 p.m., Talley and Burger Lambrechts Jr. will throw for the Huskers in the men's shot put. Luff will race in the 60-meter hurdles final at 4:40 p.m. Finally, Axelina Johansson will compete in the shot put at 7 p.m. All the action can be seen on ESPN3.com.
