Turner Corcoran Quotes - 11-22-21

Turner Corcoran
Offensive Lineman

On what the year has been like for him
“It’s been pretty interesting so far, being able to start as a sophomore at a Power 5 program. It has been a blessing. The 11 games have taken a wear and tear on me, but nothing that I can’t handle going into week 12 against Iowa. I’m ready for the challenge.”

On how the team is feeling before the Iowa game
“I think the team is in good spirits right now. We are all still playing for one another. With all the coaching changes, I feel like that game could have gone one of two ways. We could have got beaten pretty badly because we wouldn’t have been playing together, but I thought we played well together as a team. It really showed the character of everyone on this team.”

On how tough it was losing some members of the coaching staff
“It was pretty tough. We are all pretty emotional with the whole situation, but with all that said, the guys rallied around each other because the whole week went by and we played for each other that game and we played for our coaching staff.”

On what was going through his mind playing a top defense in the country
“Whatever game plan Frost wants to come up with we are all for it. We are going to execute it to the best of our abilities. I thought we did a pretty good job of that, putting up 450 yards of offense on the number one defense in the country.”

On what he makes of the Iowa rivalry
“It’s obviously a big rivalry around here. I haven’t been able to experience it much. Obviously last year there weren’t any fans at the game, so I really wasn’t able to experience it at its full force. This year I feel like it’s going to be another good game like it has been the last couple of years. I’m excited for us to go out and compete against Iowa and for us to just go out there and compete.”

On what the older guys say about Iowa
“They definitely treat it like it’s a different game, but at the end of the day they always say it’s just another game in the conference that we have to go out and attack and we have to go win.”

On the next step he wants to take individually
“I've got to get better on my pass protection. It’s no secret. Barring my injury from fall camp that kind of slowed me down a little bit, I feel like I need to polish that part of my game. I need to be better.”

On what the senior class means to him
“It means a whole lot. There are a lot of great guys on this team like JoJo and Adrian and Austin. The list goes on. Those dudes have really inspired me in ways that they don’t know. I’ve kind of been just looking back from afar and watching and collecting everything in. As a leader standpoint, they have really set the stage for what being a leader here means.”
