Troyer, Padron Earn Big Ten Honors

Nebraska senior Sara Troyer was named Big Ten Diver of the Week, while Beatriz Padron earned honors as Big Ten Freshman of the Week, when the conference announced its weekly awards on Wednesday, Oct. 27.

Troyer (Goshen, Ind.) captured the individual title in the three-meter dive competition with a winning score of 337.73 to help Nebraska to a 193-59 win over Iowa in the Huskers' first Big Ten dual of the season on Oct. 23. She added a third-place finish on the one-meter board against the Hawkeyes.

Padron (Belen, Costa Rica) made her Big Ten Conference debut with an individual victory in the 200 freestyle and a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly. She capped off the meet by helping the Big Red to victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The Huskers, 2-0, continue Big Ten dual action by traveling to Minnesota on Friday, Oct. 29, before stepping out of conference competition to face Iowa State in Ames on Saturday, Oct. 30.
