On how he is feeling
“It feels great. Unfortunately a little injury happened during camp. Took that time to recover and really focus on the mental aspect of the game and trying to be the best teammate for my teammates. Just trying to help the team in any way possible off the field as I was not participating.”
On playing at Oklahoma
“Yeah it was awesome to get back out there and great catch from a first game back. Adriana threw a great ball. Gave me an opportunity to go and make a play. And we practiced it all week. Knew it was going to hit so it was awesome.
On when he knew he would be playing
“We had a set timetable on when I wanted to get back. I had a goal. I give a lot of credit to the training staff for getting me back. They did a great job. And now I am just trying to focus on staying healthy.”
On playing with Austin Allen
“I think it is very important. I believe that 12 personnel is the best personnel out there. Kind of bias as a tight end myself but I think that Austin and I both have a great understanding of the offense can play both positions. And when we are both out here on the field I think we roll pretty well.”
On Big Ten Conference play
“Tough for the schedule coming up. It is totally a grind like you just said. The whole season is a grind. Treat every game like the most important game. So we are pumped. We are excited. You know the guys are working their tails off and ready for that part of the schedule to start up with Michigan State.”
On the game against Oklahoma
“Personally I always go into a game expecting to win. And I think this is a good game to build off of for these next couple of games that we have. You know the guys are excited and guys are ready to go.”
On 12 personnel
“I am bias as a tight end. I would love to have as many tight ends on the field as possible. We are on the field and love trying to go out there and make plays for this offense. I am trying to think back at Rutgers. I do not think we ever had any 12 personnel. But you know it was awesome coming out. When we put that in at the beginning of the week you know I was super pumped about it. Having all the big guys on the field at the same time. They are probably not going to play tight ends in 40 snaps a game or whatever but there is stuff that you have got done in the run game that you feel like you can take forward to the rest of the season.”
