Lincoln – The Nebraska rifle team capped an impressive 2021 season with another major award, while its entire team was recognized for their work in the community during the virtual A Night at the Lied on May 11.
Coming off a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in March, the Husker program took home the women's Herman Team GPA Awards for the highest grade-point average among the female teams on the Nebraska campus. The team posted a 3.744 GPA over the previous two semesters on its way to capturing its first Herman GPA award since 2009. Senior Emily Cheramie was recognized as four winners of the Heart and Soul Award, presented to the seniors who have made the biggest impact in the Husker Life Skills program. Cheramie, a four-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship team, was also a nominee for Female Athlete of the Year in 2021 as she took home three All-America awards and was named the Great American Rifle Conference Senior of the Year.
Kinga Aletto, Emily Cheramie, Madelynn Erickson, Elena Flake, Elizabeth Lorentz, Cecelia Ossi and Macey Way were all selected to the Tom Osborne Citizenship team for their efforts in the Lincoln community over the past year.
