Huskers Fall to No. 43 Hawkeyes

Lincoln, Neb., --The No. 44 Nebraska women's tennis team (11-5) fell short to No. 43 Iowa Hawkeyes (12-6, 12-4 B1G) 4-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Huskers dropped just their fourth doubles point of the season and were unable to overcome Iowa in singles action. 
 
Doubles
Hayley Haakenstad and Chloe Kuckelman got off to a quick start, defeating Iowa's Vipasha Mehra and Danielle Bauers 6-2 at the No. 3 spot. Iowa responded with a 6-4 win at No. 2 and a 7-6(5) triumph at No. 1.
 
In singles action, the Hawkeyes struck first as Isabel Adrover Gallego fell to No. 86 Elise Van Heuvelen 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. 
 
At No. 3, Claire Reifeis fell to Samantha Mannix, 6-3, 6-1 to give Iowa the 3-0 advantage. The Huskers answered as Chloe Kuckelman topped Michelle Bacalla 7-5, 6-0 to put NU on the board. 
 
The match concluded as No. 125 Kristina Novak fell to No. 13 Alexa Noel, 6-0, 6-4.
 
Matches at No. 4 and No. 6 remained unfinished at the conclusion the contest.
