Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska women's tennis team (5-2 Big Ten) fell to No. 10 Ohio State, 5-2 on Friday evening. The Buckeyes improve to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in the Big Ten.
The Huskers dropped the doubles point for just the second time this season. The Buckeyes picked up wins at No. 3 and No. 2 to go up 1-0 in the match. Kristina Novak and Maja Makoric were tied with Kollie Allen and Isabelle Boulais 5-5 at the conclusion of doubles competition.
Ohio State struck first in singles with wins at No. 6, No. 1, and No. 5 to take the 4-0 lead. At No. 6, Vivien Sandberg fell to Luna Dormet, 6-1, 6-0. Novak dropped her first singles match of the Big Ten regular season, falling to No. 78 Irina Cantos Siemers, 6-3, 6-2. Hayley Haakenstad fell to Lucia Marzal in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 6-2.
The Huskers answered back with a win at No. 3 from Claire Reifeis as she beat Kollie Allen 7-6(8), 6-4, to bring the match score to 4-1.
Maja Makoric took Lisa Hofbauer to three sets but ultimately fell in a third set tiebreaker 7-5, 4-6, 1-0(6).
In the final match of the evening, Isabel Adrover Gallego took down Isabelle Boulais 7-5, 4-6, 7-5. With the win, Adrover Gallego improves to 5-5 in singles play.
