Huskers Recognized in NTCA Statistical Awards

Lincoln – The Nebraska bowling program and senior bowler Raquel Orozco were recognized for their efforts during the 2019-20 season Thursday evening, as the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) announced the NTCA Statistical Team and Statistical Student-Athlete Awards.

The Husker bowlers led all of Division I in two of the seven categories, Strike Percentage and Baker Frame Average during the 2019-20 campaign. The Huskers recorded strikes on 48.45 percent of their total frames during the nine events this past season. In Baker format competition, NU's average of 20.23 points per frame also paced all Division I programs.

Orozco, a two-time first-team All-American from Tijuana, Mexico, led all Division I bowlers in a trio of categories in her final season of competition for the Huskers. She led the nation in Strike Percentage across all competitions at 54.5 percent, while also leading the country in Baker Double percentage (60.1 percent) and Baker Frame scoring (21.41 points per frame).

The Husker bowling team finished the season with a 79-35 record before the coronavirus pandemic forced a cancellation of the remainder of the season, including the NCAA Championship.
