The Nebraska women's tennis team prepares for their first road contest of the season with a Saturday afternoon matchup against Baylor. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. 

Scouting Baylor:

The Bears are off to their best start since 2016 with a 5-0 record. Last week, Baylor defeated Ole Miss and Mississippi State in similar come-from-behind fashion after falling behind 3-1 and winning 4-3 in both matches. 

In addition, Paula Baranano and Kristina Sorokolet move to 5-0 in singles play. Sorokolet, a junior, was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman team in 2018 and All-Big 12 Second Team Doubles in 2019.

In 2019. the Bears went 9-21 missing the NCAA tournament for the first time in 14 seasons. 

The Bears are led by Head Coach Joey Scrivano in his 18th season with the program, Scrivano has found great success with the program including 14-straight trips to the NCAA tournament from 2005-18. He has also led Baylor to eight Big 12 Tournament Championships, Six NCAA Elite Eight's, and Two NCAA Final Four appearances. 

Six Huskers Remain Unbeaten in Singles: 

A staggering six Huskers remain unbeaten in singles competitions entering Saturday's match. Senior Haakenstad and sophomore Jessica Aragon hold a 2-0 record heading to Waco.

Three of the five newest additions to the Husker roster remain unbeaten entering Saturday. Kristina Novak, Chloe Kuckelman and Ellie Kuckelman. 

Novak played her first match out of the No. 1 spot against Creighton, defeated Kate Krueger to improve to 3-0 on the season playing out of the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. 

Ellie Kuckelman is also 3-0 following an impressive win at No. 5 singles over Kristin Kerrigan of Air Force. Ellie Kuckelman tied the match at 3-3 for the Huskers, setting up twin sister Chloe Kuckelman to close out the match 4-3 over Air Force. Chloe defeated Nadeen Lieberman in front of a large crowd at Dillon Tennis Center, 6-2, 6-4. Chloe also won a match later in the day to improve to 4-0 on the season out of the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 spots. 

Doubles Pairings Rotated

The Huskers have continually mixed up double's teams throughout the first four matches with a total of ten different pairings. Claire Reifeis and Novak have competed at the No. 1 spot twice while Haakenstad and Ellie Kuckelman have teamed up at No.2 against Sacramento State and Air Force.

Week in Review: 

The Huskers are coming off a four-match winning streak. On Feb. 1, NU rallied to take down Air Force, 4-3 followed by a 4-0 win over Creighton.

The Huskers continue their road stint with duals against TCU, UCF, and Santa Barbara on Feb. 14-16 in Orlando, Fla.
