Nebraska Places Fifth At Prairie View A&M Invitational

Arlington, TX - Nebraska finished fifth at the Prairie View A&M Invitational on Sunday.

Kicking off the day with the last qualifying match, No. 3 Nebraska faced No.6 Maryland-Eastern Shore. This first match ended in a Huskers loss as they fell 902-981.

After going 8-3 in qualifying with a pinfall of 10,757, Nebraska was seeded fifth in bracket play. NU would initially go on to face No. 7 North Carolina A&T and win in a close 4-3 battle (149-192, 198-182, 237-170, 195-200, 145-210, 203-141, 257-208).

Nebraska went on to the fifth place match where they would face No. 4 Arkansas State. NU would take an early 3-0 lead (226-148, 198-190, 203-195) before losing a game (166-204) to Arkansas State. The Huskers would take the matchup 4-1 though as they won the final game 227-190.

Raquel Orozco finished the highest of the Huskers in individual standings in fourth place with a pinfall of 1,321. Orozco made the all-tournament team. Cassidy Ray finished 22 (1,158), Estefania Prieto in 23 (1,156), Leah Glazer in 27 (1,147), and Allison Morris rounded out the Huskers in 37 (1,074).

Nebraska had their best record at a tournament this year going 10-3 against a loaded field and boosted their record to 51-24. NU will return to competition February 14-16 at the Mid-Winter Classic in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
