Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska women's tennis team is set to open the 2020 regular season on Saturday morning at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. The Huskers welcome the Sacramento State Hornets and the South Dakota Coyotes to Lincoln for back-to-back matchups.

The Huskers will start the day against the Hornets at 11 a.m., followed by a 3:30 matchup against the Coyotes.

Saturday will mark the first meeting between the Huskers and the Hornets. Sacramento State is led by Head Coach Cami Hubbs. Entering her third season with the program, the Omaha Westside graduate and former Nebraska prep tennis standout hopes to lead her team to a third-consecutive Big Sky Tournament berth.

In 2019 the Hornets went 8-15 overall, including a 5-5 Big Sky conference record, with wins over Northern Arizona and Montana.

The Huskers and the Coyotes have met six total times with the advantage in Nebraska's favor, 6-0. Last season Nebraska beat South Dakota at the Dillon Tennis Center, 4-0.

The Coyotes are led by Head Coach Brett Barnett. In each of Barnett's first five seasons South Dakota has reached the Summit League Tournament semifinals. Junior Jana Lazarevic was a 2019 All-Summit League player, as she went 9-13 in singles and 6-3 in doubles a year ago.

The Huskers return four letterwinners from the 2019 season including seniors Claire Reifeis, Hayley Haakenstad and Emma Worley as well as sophomore Jessica Aragon

Named a first-team All-Big Ten selection in 2019, Reifeis led the Huskers in wins with a 19-6 singles record, including a 10-3 mark out of the No. 1 spot, and a 9-3 record at the No. 2 spot. In doubles, Reifeis went 15-6 (6-4 Big Ten) playing with both Haakenstad (2-0) and Aragon (13-6).

Haakenstad is ready for her final season as a Husker, as the the Chanhassen, Minn., native was a major contributor to the Big Red's 2019 regular-season success. Haakenstad completed her junior year with a 13-10 record out of the No. 4, 5 and 6 spots in the lineup. She also managed a 10-11 doubles record while playing with three different partners throughout the season.

Emma Worley didn't see much court time during the 2019 spring season but will continue her leadership and grow her singles game for the Huskers in 2020. At the 2019 ITA Central Regionals, Worley defeated Allison Quammen (Arkansas State) 6-0, 6-1.

Aragon is the lone sophomore on the 2020 roster. After a strong freshman season, the Plano, Texas, native prepares to continue her growth on the court. Last season Aragon went 10-12 in singles, including a 9-9 record at the No. 5 spot. In doubles, Aragon found the most success playing with Reifeis out of the No. 2 spot.

Freshmen Isabel Adrover Gallego, Chloe Kuckelman, Ellie Kuckelman and Kristina Novak are set to compete in their first regular-season matches on Saturday.

Twins Chloe and Ellie Kuckelman found great success both individually and together during the fall season. At the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic, the sisters from Overland Park, Kan., won three consecutive matches over Michigan, Appalachian State, and Oklahoma State before falling to Florida in the championship.

Adrover Gallego had an impressive singles campaign in the fall. The Mallorca, Spain, native went 5-4 throughout 2019 including a main draw appearance at the Lawrence ITF.

Novak will look to continue her success in 2020 after a 4-4 singles mark in the fall. The Radovljica, Slovenia, native impressed at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic after winning two singles matches and a doubles victory with Haakenstad.
