Colorado Springs, Colo. - The Nebraska men's gymnastics team opened their season at the Rocky Mountain Open. The Huskers claimed second with a score of 403.550 behind No. 2 Oklahoma (409.900). No. 6 Minnesota finished third with a score of 391.250. No. 13 Air Force followed with a score of 381.900 while Washington finished fifth with a score of 375.350.
NU also claimed one event title. Charlie Giles notched a 13.95 earning him the pommel horse title.
Rotation One
Nebraska started the night off strong on vault with a team score of 69.25. Senior Jake Bonnay led the Huskers with a score of 14.15. Freshman Sam Phillips followed with a 14.00. Junior Zach Peters added a score of 13.95, while Evan Kriley and Griffin Kehler scored a 13.60 and 13.55 respectively. Charlie Giles finished with a 12.95.
Rotation Two
NU moved to high bar where Dillan King led the team with a score of 13.95. Mitch Tyndall followed with a score of 13.45. Bonnay notched a 13.25. Kehler and Hymanson weren't far behind each scoring a 13.15. Young rounded out the rotation with a 12.60. The final team score was 65.000.
At the end of rotation two, the Huskers led with a score of 137.65 with Oklahoma (136.800), Air Force (129.050), Minnesota (128.200) and Washington (127.000) following.
Rotation Three
Nebraska finished high bar with a score of 65.000. Dillan King led the Huskers with a 13.30. Bonnay followed close behind with a 13.25. Kehler notched a 13.10, while Hymanson and Phillips scored a 12.80 and 12.55 respectively. Evan Kriley finished the rotation with a 12.20.
Rotation Four
NU scored 70.00 for the first time this season on floor. Bonnay lead the team with a score of 14.45 followed closely by Peters with a 14.20. Kehler followed his fellow captains with a score of 13.95. Tamane scored a 13.90 while Phillips notched a 13.50. Charlie Giles finished the rotation with a 13.45.
Rotation Five
On pommel horse, the Huskers notched a 67.650 team score. Charlie Giles led the way with a career-high score of 13.95. Kriley and Cooper Giles followed closely behind with a score of 13.85 and 13.65 respectively. Tyndall notched a 13.15 while Young scored a 13.05. Noah Urwiler scored a 12.80. Phillips ended the rotation with a score of 11.85.
The Huskers headed into the final rotation tied with Oklahoma for the top spot with a score of 338.850. Minnesota and Air Force follow closely behind with Washington in the fifth-place spot.
Rotation Six
NU finished their final rotation on rings. Young led the way for the Huskers scoring a 13.40. Freshman Nikita Bolotsky and Hymanson followed closely behind both scoring a 13.30. Jonathan Scripnick finished with a 12.80 while Tamane notched a 11.90. Urwiler scored a 11.150. Phillips finished the rotation with a score of 10.50.
All-Around
One Husker competed in the all-around at the Rocky Mountain Open. Sam Phillips finished with a score of 73.350.
