Huskers Sign Marissa Cosentini

Lincoln, Neb. - The Husker family is excited to announce the signing of Marissa Cosentini from Wayne Valley High School in New Jersey.

Cosentini chose Nebraska over Mt. St. Mary's, Monmouth University, and Fairleigh Dickinson University. 

"[Nebraska has] one of the most successful bowling programs in the nation," Cosentini claimed, "and I feel as though I can benefit a lot from the coaching and contribute to their continued success in the future."

A multi-talented athlete in high school, Cosentini participated numerous sports such as bowling, softball, and field hockey. Her bowling career is highlighted by a high game score of 279 and a high series score of 747.

Cosentini joins the Huskers with an impressive resume. In 2019, she made North Jersey's 2019 All Decade Girls Bowling Team (First Team). She also made the first team all-county team, first team all-state team, and was nominated for bowler of the year and owned the top average in Bergen/ Passaic County and at State in 2019. At the Big North Conference Tournament Independent Division she placed first. She was a part of the USBC Monmouth County Youth Baker Team Champions.

In 2018, she not only qualified for the Junior Gold and state  but was also a part of the Teen Masters. In the same year, Cosentini earned a spot on the first team all-county team and second team all-state team. She was nominated for bowler of the year and had the top average in Bergen/ Passaic County in 2018. She won the Big North Conference Tournament Independent Division and Tom Irwin Crusader Classic in 2018 and was runner-up at the Annual North Jersey High School Singles Classic (FDU) and NJSIAA North Sectionals.

Her sophomore year of high school, 2017, she was nominated for Bowler of the Year and made state for the first time. Cosentini bowled in the Teen Masters and qualified for Junior Gold and held the top average in Bergen/Passaic County and claimed first in all events at the Bergen County USBC Youth Assn Tournament. At the USA Bowling National Championships, Cosentini made the finals and finished runner-up.

Her freshman year of high school, Cosentini qualified for Junior Gold, placed second at the Tom Irwin Crusader Classic and was tournament champion in the 2016-2017 USA Bowling Regional (U15, Northeast).
