Fourth and fifth year student-athletes gathered at Memorial Stadium on Sunday night for the Etiquette Dinner hosted by Nebraska Life Skills. Director of the College of Business Career Center, Rachel Larson, and Business Center Graduate Career Coach, Lauren Stehlik, presented to the group on proper dining etiquette to utilize in professional settings. With a fully catered meal, student-athletes across all sports were able to apply their new knowledge right away at their respective tables.
Stehlik shared, "Dr. Rachel Larson and I really enjoy delivering our etiquette dining presentation to this group of students. They are always so engaging and ask great questions. There are a variety of situations when etiquette skills are used throughout life, and I think it is wonderful that Life Skills makes this opportunity available to students during their senior year. Hopefully students walked away with knowledge to help them be confident and successful in networking and professional settings."
Larson and Stehlik navigated student-athletes through the meal and answered questions. Topics covered in the evening's presentation included everything from the correct usage of utensils, best menu ordering practices, proper table conversation, and the do's and don'ts when interviewing in a restaurant setting.
Senior track student-athlete, Taylor Johnson, was one of the student-athletes in attendance. Johnson shared, "It was very informative and I'm thankful for the speakers from the College of Business taking the time to meet with us. I enjoyed learning new information that I can utilize in my professional life moving forward."
