Jack Stoll
Senior, Tight End

On the past 24 hours for him and the team
“I don’t think we even touched down in Lincoln until 2 a.m., something like that. Ended up getting on the bus ride. I didn’t hit my head to the pillow until 3 a.m. We were all able to get a good night sleep. Got a good night sleep again last night. We all feel well recovered. Coach Frost took care of us. So instead of going shells today we ended up going helmets. I know everyone is feeling fresh and feeling good after today’s practice. It was a lot more mental reps making sure we have everything ready and we’re just excited.”

On if Illinois was the most physical game he’s played so far this season
“Definitely. They were a very physical team and credit to them, they have a lot of good players on that team who, you know, they’re a pretty tough team. They’re going to end up doing a few good things this year no doubt and a lot of credit to them. We made that game a lot closer than it needed to be. We shot ourselves in the foot with four turnovers, fumbling the ball. We just have to clean a few things up. We’re happy where we are. We can always get better. We’re just going to take everything that happened that game and learn from it.”

On wide receiver/running back Wan’Dale Robinson’s performance
“I knew that the second he stepped on campus he was going to be a play maker. You could just see how twitchy he was in some of those seven-on-sevens. Running routes on air. Everyone knew he was going to end up being a play maker and the fact that it happened this soon, all the better. I had all the faith in him in the world to go out there and make some plays, and I’m happy it happened as soon as Big Ten play started and I look forward to seeing him ball out again on Saturday.”

On quarterback Adrian Martinez’s play
“One of the best traits about Adrian is that he’s always composed. He’ll go out there and he’s willing to attack everything and it’s never going to get too high with him. It’s never going to get too low. He’s been a great leader on this team just leading us to victories like he did last Saturday. He’s been a great guy to go out and lead us. He’ll go out there and make some plays and everybody just feeds off his energy. It’s always great to have him back there at quarterback, and we always know with the ball in his hands he’s going to find a way to make a play.”

On his third quarter tip catch to extend the drive
“Adrian scrambled and he put the ball the one place he could and my number ended being called to make a play and I was going to do whatever I could to make a play for the team. It ended up happening like that, so whenever we get our opportunity we like to go out there and just make sure we do everything we can to make the team win and I’m just happy I could end up going out there and making the plays for us.”

On if the film was hard to watch despite having almost 700 offensive yards
“Anytime you watch the film there’s going to be a few plays where you wish you could have back, wish you could clean a few things up. Illinois is no different than any other game. Obviously, we’d like to have a few of those plays back and change one thing here or there but at the end of the day we came out of there with a win and that’s the big thing. We’ve kind of struggled in the past at closing games out, so the fact that we were able to do that and nonetheless on the road is something I’m very excited about and is kind of the next step in this journey we’re on.”

On if he saw a little something extra in Martinez in the last quarter
“I just saw Adrian going out there and making plays like he always does. I know he’s always got that in him and it never surprises me because I see him do that in practice, so it’s no surprise when it translates to the game.”

On if this is the loosest Adrian has played this season
“Like I said, he’s just a play maker. He just looks comfortable back there. We've got faith in him. He’s going to do his job. Everyone is going to do their job for him and whenever our numbers are called we’re going to make a play.”

On his touchdown
“That was just a play we had designed, and to be honest I don’t want the credit. I think that was all Austin Allen. If you watch the play, he’s the one that got me open, so to me it was all Austin Allen on that play and we’re just trying to go out there to make sure he gets his first touchdown.”

On what he thinks the environment will be like on Saturday
“Just like every other Saturday in Lincoln it’s going to be an electric atmosphere. I’m looking forward to it, especially with all the hype around it. Awesome, awesome atmosphere. I’m looking forward to it. That obviously comes with a lot of distractions that we’re going to try and block out. I know we’re going to do a good job of it and prepare like any other week. Just go out and attack our practices and just stay locked in and focused.”
