Husker Freshmen Conclude Play at Lawrence ITF

Lawrence, Kan.,-- Husker Freshmen Isabel Adrover Gallego and Kristina Novak competed at the Lawrence ITF in Lawrence, Kan., on Sept., 9 thru Sept. 12. The Husker pair represented their home countries and the University of Nebraska at the tournament.

Qualifying round singles matches began on Sept. 9th with both Huskers earning opening round wins. Novak defeated Anna Baranovski 6-2, 6-4, while Adrover Galleo picked up a win over Keisha Clousing 6-4, 7-5. In Tuesday's second round of qualifications, Novak fell to Jessica Faila 6-2, 6-0, eliminating her from competition. Adrover Gallego defeated Anastasia Sysoeva 7-6(4), 6-3 earning a spot in the 32-player main draw.

On Wednesday's main draw opening round, Adrover Gallego topped Jada Robinson in a three-set match 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. With only 16 players remaining in the field, Adrover Gallego fell in the second-round of competition to Dasha Ivanova 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles play, the Husker duo fell in hard-fought first-round matchup to Dalayna Hewitt and Jada Robinson 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
