Pre-Colorado
On what this game means for him this week
"It’s another football game. Week 2. We are playing our rivals I think. It should be a good game."
On how his physical condition was in the first game
"I mean it was good for me. I felt good out there. I wasn’t thinking about my body. I was just playing football again, which is your number one priority when you are out on that field. I feel good. I am looking forward to this week."
On if he was on a play count on Saturday.
"I go in when my coaches tell me to go in. I know the coaches were trying to limit my snaps this past week just to see where I was at. Moving forward, it's based on how I feel and how I produce."
On if he expected the team to get five takeaways on Saturday
"Yeah, I mean that is what we were shooting for in game. It's if we continue this in this stretch and it starts with game two."
On how much better the defense can get
"We can get a lot better. We went through the tape this morning with our coaches. I know the defense did, I’m sure the offense probably did the same thing. We have a lot to improve on. Getting back to the basics, honing in on technique and our responsibilities and just do what we are told and fly around and make plays."
On if Domann knows many guys on the Colorado team and if he will communicate with them this week
"I don’t really know that many guys. I know a few. There probably won’t be any communication. It’s all business. We are going down there to win a football game."
On if there were any more Blackshirts added this week
"No."
On the history of Nebraska vs. Colorado
"I know there is not a lot of love. Back in the day, both teams were pretty good and competing for championships. I think Nebraska got the better of them, so hopefully we can continue that trend."
On if he was recruited by Colorado and if he took a visit
"I did and I came here. Thank God I came here. Happy to be here and hopefully we take it to them on Saturday."
On what people told him after he picked Nebraska
"Why didn’t you stay home? Why did you choose to be a Cornhusker?” Just the surface level disses. I know what I signed up for. I came here for the tradition. I came here to win a Big Ten Championship and to become the best football player I could possibly become."
On how he will stay focused this week
"You stick to the script. You do the same thing. You treat it like any other game as a nameless, faceless opponent. Yeah, we dislike these guys a little more than some other teams, but we are gonna take it to them on Saturday like anybody else."
On what he tells his teammates about playing in the higher altitude
"You’re going to get tired a little quicker. You’re going to be fatigued, but it's mind over matter with anything. Even though the physical elements might be at our disadvantage, it's in between the ears."
On what he has seen from linebacker Collin Miller
"I’ve seen Collin mature a lot as a football player the last two years. He’s reliable. He flies to the ball and he loves football. You know what you’re going to get out of him. You know, lining up with him, across from him, whatever, you definitely have confidence as his teammate."
On how he felt the linebackers communicated in the first game
"We can definitely improve on the communication. It’s loud. It’s not going to be quiet in Boulder either. Just continue to communicate, be loud, to put ourselves in the best position possible."
On his impressions from Colorado’s first game against Colorado State
"They run a good offense. They've got some playmakers, some good athletes. They run a pro-style, just prepare like we would anybody else and go out on Saturday and have a little fun."
On his impressions of Colorado quarterback Steven Montez
"He’s good. He can sling it. He’s mobile. He doesn’t like to get hit, but he can throw the ball. We've got to prepare for everything."
On if he’s noticed anything different from the offense since the game ended on Saturday
"They hold themselves to a higher standard than what they hit on Saturday. As a defensive guy, I’ve played offense and you’re going to have some up and down games. You’re not going to produce each and every time. You’re going to get things you didn’t expect in the game plan, right? That’s kind of what happened (on Saturday). Back to the drawing board and they’ll commit themselves even harder this week. A new level of commitment on their part. They are going to come out on Saturday, and I believe in them."
On his excitement to see all the Husker fans on Saturday
"Hopefully, that place is all red. It’s like that at any away game. For it to be in Boulder, is it any sweeter? I don’t know."
