Senior Master Sergeant Gary Thompson (Omaha, NE, Air Force, Vietnam)

Omaha, Neb., native Gary Thompson was a superintendent of airborne gunners. Having served for 25 years, SMSgt.  Thompson was in an elite special operations unit for 22 years and supervised over 100 airborne gunners during their initial qualification training. He earned the distinguished flying cross and numerous other air medals while serving as the Squadron First Sergeant and lead gunner while flying missions as the deployed Wing First Sergeant when needed.
