Lincoln, Neb. --- Nebraska golfer Jackson Wendling was named a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar for the second straight year by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
As a senior, Wendling was the Huskers' top finisher in two tournaments with his best performance coming at the Lamkin San Diego Classic, where he tied for 20th with a three-round score of 219. Wendling finished his senior year with a 75.00 stroke average and a career stroke average of 75.45.
Wendling was one of 279 players selected around the country in Division I for the award. A total of 555 players were selected across Divisions I, II, NAIA and NJCAA. To qualify, the individual must be a junior or senior academically and have participated in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds. In Division I, the individual must have a stroke average of 76.0 or better and over a cumulative 3.2 GPA. The student-athlete must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
As a Husker, Wendling was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team three times in 2017, 2018 and 2019 and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2017. He was also a part of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team in 2017 and 2019 and was on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll every semester.
