Huskers to Wrestle at Team Trials Challenge

Four wrestlers with Husker ties will be wrestling this weekend at the 2019 UWW Senior Freestyle World Team Trials Challenge Tournament, set for Saturday and Sunday at the Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, North Carolina.

2018 Final X-Lincoln Champion, James Green will highlight the group and wrestle at 70 kg. If Green wins the tournament, he will be joining Jordan Burroughs at Final X Lincoln on Saturday, June 15.

T.J. Dudley and Dom Bradley from the NWTC will also be in the field and competing at 92 kg and 125 kg, respectively. Dudley was a three-time All-American with the Huskers and Bradley earned All-America accolades on two occasions.

In addition, former Husker Colton McCrystal will be joining the group in Raleigh and competing at 65 kg.

All four senior wrestlers with Husker ties are entered in the challenge tournament at their respective weight classes and will compete to earn a spot in the best-of-three final series.

The winners in Raleigh qualify for one of two Final X events in June, which sets the 2019 U.S. World Team in men’s and women’s freestyle that will compete in Kazakhstan, September 14-22.

The Bob Devaney Sports Center will host one half of the Final X that already includes Jordan Burroughs (74 kg). Final X: Lincoln will feature action at four men’s freestyle weight classes and three women’s freestyle weight classes. Tickets are on sale now, under the tickets tab at www.FinalX.tv

Three Nebraska wrestling student-athletes who redshirted last season are also in the field for the 2019 UWW Junior Freestyle World Team Trials this Friday and Saturday in the same location. Jevon Parrish will be competing at the 61 kg weight class, while Peyton Robb will wrestle at 70 kg and Austin Emerson will be in the 125-kg bout.

All three current Huskers entered in the challenge tournament at their respective weight class to attempt to earn a spot in the best-of-three final series. Winners of the best-of-three series will qualify for the U.S. team at the 2019 UWW Junior World Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, August 12-18.
