Fort Worth, Texas -- The Nebraska women's gymnastics team will finish out the 2019 season with senior Sienna Crouse and junior Taylor Houchin competing at the NCAA National Semifinals in Fort Worth, Texas on Friday April 19 during the Noon session with ESPN 2 providing national television coverage.
Crouse will be competing in the all-around, after a stellar performance at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional where she posted the highest all-around score with a score of 39.600. On vault she earned herself a 9.90, on uneven bars she hit her high of the night with a 9.95, on balance beam she finished with a 9.85 and on floor exercise she earned herself a 9.90 as well. Crouse has been a constant competitor in the all-around for the Huskers this season competing in the all-around in all but three meets this season. Her high on the season is a score of 39.700, which she earned on senior night at the Masters Classic. Crouse will begin the meet on floor exercise, then vault, followed by uneven bars and ending on balance beam.
This season, Crouse was named preseason Big Ten Gymnast to Watch, earned First Team All-Big Ten for the second time in her career, along with being named to the Big Ten All-Championship team and was name Big Ten Gymnast of the Week the week of March 19 after her performance at the Masters Classic where she earned three event titles in that meet. She owns the eighth highest all-around score in Nebraska history, as well as the third highest uneven bars score. Outside of the gym, she has earned Academic All-Big Ten for the third time in her career, as well as being named to the Nebraska Scholar Athlete Honor Roll every semester she has attended Nebraska and named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for the fourth straight year.
Houchin will be competing on vault, after posting a near perfect 9.975 at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional. She has been one of the most consistent vault performers in the Huskers' lineups, including coming away with two event titles this season against Rutgers and Minnesota. The 2018 First Team All-American on vault will compete in the fourth rotation. Houchin was named Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week the week of Jan. 22 after her performance against Rutgers where she took home three event titles in that meet. She is a NACGC/W second team Regular Season All-American on uneven bars, First Team All-Big Ten for the second time in her career and was named to the Big Ten All-Championship. Outside of the gym, Houchin was named Academic All-Big Ten for the second time in her career as well as earning a spot on the Nebraska Scholar Athlete Honor Roll and named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
The Huskers finished No. 14 in the final Road to Nationals Poll with a Team RQS of 196.650 and a team season high of 197.675 recorded at the Masters Classic. NU also finished top 20 on all four events this season as well, on vault the Huskers end at No. 14, No. 16 on uneven bars, No. 19 on balance beam and a team best No. 11 on floor exercise. Nebraska finished their season as a team finishing fourth in the NCAA Ann Arbor Super Regional with a team score of 196.650 falling to No. 2 UCLA, No. 7 Michigan and No. 10 Alabama.
