Lincoln – The Nebraska men's tennis (7-8, 0-2 Big Ten) will host the Wichita State Shockers (7-7, 0-0 AAC) on Friday, March 15 at 4:30 p.m. CT at the Dillon Tennis Center in Lincoln, Neb. Admission is free.

The Huskers hope to snap a four-match losing streak that dates back to Feb. 23 after going on a four-match winning streak of its own from Feb. 9 to Feb. 23.

Scouting Wichita State

• The Shockers come off a 4-3 home win over No. 50 Memphis on Tuesday, March 12.

• Wichita State holds a pair of ranked wins in its resume this season: at No. 28 Dartmouth, 4-3, on Feb. 23 and vs. No. 43 Drake, 4-2, on March 1.

• The Shockers are 3-6 away from home, with their most recent loss coming at New Mexico, 4-2, on March 9.

Series History

• The Huskers lead the all-time series 23-17 over the Shockers. Most recently, NU lost at Wichita State 4-1 on March 9, 2018.

• Nebraska last won in 2017, when the Huskers hosted the Shockers for a 5-2 win on March 18.

• The NU-Wichita State rivalry dates back to 1949, when both teams first played in Lincoln for a 6-0 Husker victory.

Boyer Continues to Lead Huskers

• Senior Toby Boyer continues to dominate the No. 1 singles spot in Nebraska’s lineup, posting 10 wins so far.

• The Ham Lake, Minn., native surpassed Marc Hermann on March 3 to become the seventh-winningest athlete in Nebraska men’s tennis history with 70 career wins.

• Boyer held a seven-match win streak from January 26 to March 8 before falling to Osgar O'Hoisin of Wisconsin for only his second loss of the season.

Klousia Takes Over No. 2 Spot

• After 16 matches at No. 4 and only four at No. 3 last year, junior Micah Klousia stepped up to take over Nebraska’s No. 2 singles position – he has completed all of his 11 spring matches at that spot so far.

• Despite several tough opponents, including two ranked in the top-125, Klousia held his ground and has a 6-5 mark on the season.

Freshmen Make Early Impact

• Victor Moreno Lozano and William Gleason have been strong assets to Nebraska’s lineup, gaining ground at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots.

• Victor Moreno, a freshman from Madrid, Spain, holds the team’s second-best spring record with an 8-5 mark – 5-4 at No. 3 and 3-1 at No. 4.

• Gleason, a Lincoln native and Lincoln Southwest 2018 graduate, has a 5-6 spring record, with a pair of wins at No. 3 and three wins at the No. 4 position.

Boyer, Klousia Produce Impressive Fall Season

• Boyer and Klousia earned a berth among the nation’s top 32 doubles teams, as they qualified for the ITA National Fall Championships, Nov. 7-8.

• The Husker duo produced an impressive 4-1 run at the ITA Central Regionals on Oct. 18-22. Boyer/Klousia upset the tournament’s No. 1 seed (Arkansas) before knocking off teams from Creighton and Tulsa to earn a spot among the event’s four best pairs.

Maymi Develops Stronger Non-Conference Schedule

• As a starting point for a program turnaround in 2019, first-year head coach Sean Maymi developed a stronger non-conference schedule for the Huskers

• So far, Nebraska has played three ranked opponents: No. 10 Baylor, No. 46 Drake and No. 38 Texas Tech. NU is still scheduled to play No. 39 Wichita State. Last year, Nebraska did not face any ranked (top-50) non-conference teams.
