Memphis, Tenn. – The eleventh-ranked Nebraska rifle team came up short in a close match to No. 8 Memphis, 4,660-4,661.
The two teams were evenly matched in smallbore, with both teams assembling team scores of 2,313. Samantha Peterson led Nebraska with 583, followed by Emily Cheramie (579). Kayla Gadeken brought in 577. Nina Radulovic (574) and Bailey Powell (559) rounded out the Huskers.
NU came together to score 2,347 as a team in air rifle, led by Emily Cheramie's career-high score of 593. Samantha Peterson (586) and Bailey Powell (585) added consistency to the Huskers. Nina Radulovic and Maddie Korthas completed Nebraska’s air rifle effort with 583 and 577, respectively.
Levi Clark led Memphis in smallbore with 586, followed by Leighton Dempster (585). The Tigers pulled away in air rifle, scoring 2,348 as a team. Clark and Dempster were out front for Memphis again with 593 and 590, respectively.
The Huskers will take the range again in two weeks when they compete at their NCAA Qualifier match in Murray, Ky. on Feb. 17. The match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Fans can follow along on social media.
