“You can tell that he’s driven. He’s fallen in love with the way we do things here and he’s taken it upon himself to get those extra yards. I’m happy he’s doing what he does, it makes it so the offensive line feels comfortable with him in the backfield, it makes us want to work that much harder for him. It’s always from running and blocking for a guy that’s running behind his own pads as well. It just makes him feel like he’s part of the O-Line and that push, it’s not just us giving it, it’s going to be him too.”

On the pride the offensive line takes in having a possible 1,000-yard rusher this season in Devine Ozigbo
“Me speaking for everybody, we always take things like that to heart. When you get the chance to see one of your guys rush and make all those spectacular plays, you being someone that will never do it, you’ve got to take a piece of that for yourself, so we’re always happy to see our guys succeed. Devine has really been working hard. The way he runs, that’s not we’re the ones making him do it that way, I don’t want to take anything away from him, we’re just going to try to make the holes for him to do his work. I’m happy to see him out there giving it all he has. And these last three games, I think everyone is going to do the same.”

On Illinois’ win over Minnesota last week
“Coming into these games, we really don’t take a team for granted. Even if they would’ve lost, I feel like we would’ve came and worked just as hard. I’d say them beating Minnesota, that’s a good win for them, but we’re geared up and focused to get through this week and really work to figure out exactly what their kind of scheme is so that when we play them we’ll have success in the run game, pass game, and on defense.”

On AJ Bush
“AJ is a great guy. It was hard to see when he left, but I knew he was going to do big things. Making his way, his whole trip, Iowa Western to Virginia Tech then now to Illinois, it’s wild. But he’s a worker. I’m happy that he’s finally going to be able to come back to the stadium. It’s going to be funny seeing him on the other side of the ball. As much as we’re friends, we’re not going to take a play off. We really want to beat him so we can rub it in his face later. He’s a great guy. I’m happy to see him succeeding. Every time I see him on the clicker or anything like that I’m really happy he’s working and he’s getting the chance he definitely deserves.”

On Scott Frost wanting to send the seniors out on a winning streak
“I think we all understand this was going to be a year where we needed to build a foundation. It didn’t matter if we were going to have 10 wins or two wins, we were going to have to build a foundation so that the next years coming, the guys will know what the standard is. And I feel like we’ve done a pretty good job, we still have a couple more weeks to set everything and finalize everything we’re going to stand for as a team. Coach Frost, he wants to win just as bad as we do and he can see on our faces when we don’t get the win that it hurts. Sending us off in the right way, I love that he would say something like that and we’re going to work just as hard if not harder so that he’ll feel like he sent us off in the right way.”

On what makes him sure that Nebraska will become a top five program
“The way this coaching staff holds accountability. The way this coaching staff reps excellence in the sense of practicing, and the sense of being a good person out in the community and understanding not only your job, but understanding everyone else’s on the team. With those things and knowing that you have a coaching staff that’s really going to work that much harder to put you in the right things against the teams. You build all that trust and you get the right players out there, they’re going to be something special. I’m a little jealous that I didn’t get to have all my years with a coaching staff and a great coach like Coach Frost.”

On if the sense for the team is winning the last three games
“Oh yeah, I feel great about where we’re at. The next step is definitely is to finish the season out the right way. We have three games that we think that we can win. So we’re going to keep pushing forward. Illinois is the next game that we’re going to play. We’re excited for it and again, playing against guys that I’ve grown up through college with, like AJ on the other side, it’s going to be a whole lot of fun.”

On the team’s alternate uniforms for Saturday’s game
