Pre-Michigan
Stanley Morgan Jr.
Senior, Wide Receiver
On his message to his teammates after the loss to Troy
“Just giving the guys energy. We’re practicing good, we've got to do a little bit more to win these games in the fourth quarter, and just finishing out the games.”
On why the team has struggled early in games
“Obviously we have turnovers, just some little nicks and picks we have to fix in practice. That’s the things I was talking about in the locker room. You know, we just have to fix those things.”
On how the team will prepare for Michigan’s defense
“These guys are good. They play man defense, and we’ve got guys who are going to step up and have good backups. And I don’t know, practice better.”
On playing against Michigan’s man defense
“Of course, I mean I can think about myself when you’re going against guys like Lattimore, Ohio State, this is a big challenge and I love games like that.”
On how the receivers have been blocking on the perimeter in the last two games
“I love it, we’re trying, we’re getting out there, we’re putting our hands on guys, but you know, the thing about football is we've got to be a little bit better to win these games.”
On how he waved his teammates off after scoring a touchdown against Troy to make the game 17-7
“I didn’t really see it at that point, but I mean it was a little bit of a message, but, no disrespect to Jack Stoll, he was trying to celebrate with me, but we were down and we just needed to pick up the pace and keep it going, I mean we had more work to do, that's what it really was.”
On what Adrian Martinez’s return this week means to the team
“He’ll mean a lot to us, but it doesn't matter who’s out there. We’re a team and we've got to get a win no matter who is out there.”
On his teammates’ response to what he said
“I mean, you could tell in practice today, guys came with it, guys were coming to practice. Guys respect me on the team. I feel like I built that over the years, so guys came with it today. I mean backup receivers, Woody, Hunt, and the backups are ready to go.”
On playing Michigan this weekend
“I feel like it’s a great test for us. Just to get guys going and when you’re playing a big team you do the extra, you do the extra in practice. You stay after practice to catch balls, you stay after practice to watch film, so I feel like this is a good test for us and I’m ready and very excited to see what we do this weekend.”
On if he is getting more double-coverage
“I’m kind of used to getting double-coverage. I mean, it’s making me a better player, but, you know for the team, I’m doing anything to help the team, it’s not about me getting double-coverage, it’s about opening guys up on the left side and opening guys up on the slot, you know, it’s not about me getting double-coverage. I’m not worried about that.”
On having a chance to start over during conference play
“Of course, yes. I mean it’s conference time, you want to win conference games.”
On playing more in the slot
“I love playing all over the field. I mean it’s just ways to open up, getting away from double-coverage. You can get in the slot and work those safeties out and work those linebackers in and you know, free up those guys on the outside.”
